Maersk has contributed to the funding of the scientific equipment used in the expedition to collect and analyse samples from the submarine dives and catamaran voyages. Maersk’s sponsorship also includes the transportation of the submarine and other equipment for the expedition, subject to receipt of all required regulatory approvals. |

Poseidon, official diving partner. Poseidon’s engineers may consult in developing the Virgin Oceanic submarine’s primary breathing system, subject to the receipt of any necessary regulatory approvals that would be required to permit such collaboration. The Swedish company’s fully automatic rebreather, the Poseidon Discovery, has been selected as back-up breathing system in the underwater vessel and as diving equipment for the Virgin Oceanic diving team. |

The company was chosen as a result of its renowned reputation, and unparalleled heritage in protecting and enabling professionals who make their living in extreme conditions on oceans and mountains around the world. |

The Prince Albert II Foundation supports the initiative of the Virgin Oceanic team to ensure that we maximize the opportunity for science to learn from our ocean expeditions. One of the main objectives of the Foundation is to raise the awareness of the population and public authorities in regard to the impact that human activities have on the natural environment and to encourage environmentally conscious behavior. |
